Tim grew up near Boston, MA and did his undergrad at Hamilton College. After multiple research technician jobs and an ill-advised attempt at medical school, Tim did his PhD training with Kathy Nagel at NYU. He then went on to a postdoc in Tom Clandinin’s lab at Stanford, where he built some cool genetic tools and explored how the fly connectome could be used to predict the tuning of visual system cell types. Tim launched his lab at Penn State in early 2027 and is excited to tackle his interests in development and sensory computations. Outside the lab, Tim is an avid tennis player, hiker, and gardener, and enjoys the occasional giant tome of epic fantasy.
